How To Get Started Making Hip Hop Beats

There are a ton of new and fresh, cool and hip, down and out hip hop beats today. Do not be the type of person who steals these beats and calls them their own. Be fresh and new. Be original. Making hip hop beats is not hard. It is probably one of the easiest things to do. Why? Because its all about you. Here are some tips to get you started.

If you don't know what samples are its time you learn. Samples are short recordings of music that you use to create your hip hop beats. To make them your own, play an instrument. You don't have to know how to play it. Be creative and experiment with different combinations of notes. Use different instruments to record a variety of samples.

If you need help look to music, listen to a wide genre. This will give you ideas, ideas you can use to create your samples. Don't just listen to your favorite style of music. Listen to country, listen to rock, listen to classical, rap, and hip hop. The point is to expand your horizon. Feed off the different combination, the different beats. It will inspire new ideas, new directions, and ultimately give you the tools you need to create your sample beats.

Once your samples are created it is time to put them together. Don't just paste them together. Your samples are guides, not your hip hop beat. Use pieces of them. Combine them. Rearrange them. Mix them. You are not in a race. You will notice that the puzzle will start to come together. Use your knowledge of listening to music to help you put that puzzle together. To keep things on tempo, use a simple drum beat track.

Now for the grand finale. Put yourself into your hip hop beat. Add your emotion. Remember a sad time. Put that into it. Remember a happy time. Put that into it. By putting your emotions into it you will create some amazing beats. In fact, the best time to create hip hop beats is when your emotional. Most important of all, have fun with it.
