Golf Swing Tips - How To Rotate Your Hands Through The Ball At Impact
Getting into the perfect position at the point of impact is a very important step within the golf swing. The angle of the club face will determine whether you hit the ball straight or in some other direction that you don't want it to go. Now grab a club and swing it as you normally would. Pay attention to the position of your hands and forearms at the point of impact. This is what we are going to focus on.
Alright, get back into the impact position, acting like you are about to hit the golf ball. Now.... one thing we want to focus on is keeping our wrists straight and not letting them bend to the left or right at impact. Bending your wrists is known as a "wrist break" in the golf world, and it is not something that we want. A wrist break at impact will most likely cause a slice. However, what you do want is to "flip" your hands through the ball at impact. So, how do we learn how to do this? This little exercise should help you out with that....
The Wrist Watch Exercise
In order for you to learn the proper technique you need to see it in action. This can be done easily by using a simple wrist watch. So go grab a watch and let's get started...
Are you ready? Do you have your watch on? Now, as your leading arm approaches impact, the watch face should be pointing at your target, more than likely this is going to be the flag. When you reach this position, simply ROTATE the watch face so it's pointed at the ground. You can see that this move makes your trailing wrist and forearm "flip" on top of your leading wrist and forearm. Grab a club and repeat this movement until it seems completely natural within your golf swing.
Rotating your wrists through the ball at impact will "close" your club face and will result in greater distance and a reduced slice. This will benefit any golfer.
When implementing this tip, it's important to note that your forearms should be working together. Keep your forearms as close to each other as possible through the impact zone. Once you master this technique you will be well on your way to longer, straighter shots, and a lower golf score :)
