The three basic table positions in poker are early (the Big Blind, Small Blind and Under the Gun), middle and late (including the Cutoff and the Button).

If you are sitting in late position -- which is the strongest position -- you will be able to see other players' reactions to their cards before the action comes to you. This simple idea is behind the pokerism "Position is Power."

Though the strength of your hole cards is important, how you use position in deciding your betting strategy is the most important tool in your poker skill set. Playing your starting hands the same no matter what position you are in is one of the gravest mistakes you can make. Though you may understand the strength of playing premium starting hands, incorrectly entering every pot without considering position is costly. The more information you possess, the more you increase your chances of winning the hand.

Your margin for error is less when you are sitting in early position. How To Count Cards

Card counting is a common strategy used to play and win at blackjack. If you have wanted to learn how to count cards, but have been worried it is too hard, then read on. Assigning Values

To begin with learning to count cards you should practice memorizing the values of each card. Go through a deck over and over reciting the card values until you are sure you have them memorized.

Once you are feeling that you have the card values memorized you can start working with keeping a running count. This is more practice to get you ready for the actual game.

To keep a running count you start with a value of 0. As you flip over cards from your deck you will add or subtract the values. For example, if you have a king, queen, 2 and 8 you would end up with a count of minus 1.

Keeping the running count will likely take much more practice that just memorizing the values. It is essential, though, that you get keeping the running count down perfectly. You should keep practicing until it becomes like second nature and you don't hesitate anymore in figuring the count.

True Count

Once you are ready to play an actual game and count the cards during the game you will go from a running count to the true count. To do this you keep the running count and divide it by the number of cards remaining in the deck. The true count will tell you what to bet.

If the true count is positive then bet more. If it is negative then don't bet as much. This allows you to play smart and only bet when you have a good chance of winning. In the end you will likely win more than you lose. Card counting can be a great way to start improving your odds at the blackjack table and help you start to make more when you play.

With this increase in popularity, comes an increase in competition for college golf scholarships. Due to this increase in scholarship competition, I want to share with you some basic guidelines that will help you get a college golf scholarship.

One thing I want to stress to student-athletes is that what I am about to share with you are SIMPLY guidelines. If you are able to offer a college coach certain intangibles that he/she is looking for they may still offer you a college scholarship.

I know intangibles are an important part of a college coaches recruiting process. I speak from experience. I am a 6' guy that played quarterback in the Pac-10. Typically, coaches want their quarterbacks in the Pac-10 to be at least 6'2".

I think it is important to know what college coaches are looking for because it gives you something to shoot for...a goal to strive for as you practice and prepare.

Keep in mind, that the BASICS of college recruiting still apply...even if you are within the given guidelines. It is important that you still excel in the class room, and YES, coaches want to see video your swings. Once you get some video done of your swings, begin to promote yourself to college coaches all over the country.

Preferred grades are 3.0+ GPA and a 24+ACT/1000+SAT

One thing I often get asked by parents and players is, "What do I need to shoot in order to play in college?"

A Division 1 coach is looking for MALE golfers to have a SCRATCH handicap, and FEMALE golfers to have a handicap from 0-5.

Division 2 coaches are typically looking for male golfers to have a 0-4 handicap, and their female golfers to have a 0-10 handicap.

A D3 coach is looking to recruit male golfers with an 8-13 handicap and female golfers with a 10-20 handicap.

ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

NCAA Division 1 schools have 4.5 male scholarships, while the woman's golf team has 6 scholarships available.

Old Fashioned Turkey Recipe For The Perfect Christmas

With Thanksgiving just around the corner everyone is looking for the perfect traditional roasted turkey recipe. If this is the first time to traditional roasted a turkey, do not fret. It is much r than you imagine.

If your turkey is frozen, the first step is to thaw it. You need to plan well ahead, because you will need to thaw the bird 24 hours per 5 pounds of turkey. Thawing in the refrigerator is the safest way, and will prevent bacteria from forming.



After the turkey is thawed, remove the neck and giblets from the inside cavity. Rinse the bird thoroughly. Apply softened, unsalted butter to the outside of the turkey, and then coat the inside with butter as well. Sprinkle a little salt and pepper on the outside to suit your taste.

Place the turkey in a cooking pan, breast side up. A shallow pan is best, and a dark pan is better than a shiny pan, as it will reduce cooking time. If you choose to stuff the turkey, do so just before putting the bird in the over. Add a few cups of turkey stock to the bottom of the pan to keep it moist.

You might decide to cover the turkey for cooking. If the traditional roasteding pan includes a lid, use it. You can also make a tent using aluminum foil, or buy a traditional roasteding bag. Paper shopping bags are not advisable, since some bags are recycled and might contain unwanted substances.

Preheat your oven to 325 degrees or higher, and place the roasting pan inside the oven. The turkey should be basted every 30 minutes, using the juices that collect in the pan. If you decided to cover the turkey, the cover should be removed after cooking for 2 hours. The amount of time for cooking a turkey will vary. For the most accurate cooking advice, ask the butcher at your local supermarket.

So much is said about The Beatles legendary 1967 album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band but I think too much of what is said is about it's historical significance and the like. Not enough attention is paid to the music itself. And that's why with this article I'm focusing entirely on the music, one song at a time.

01. "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" - This opening track really sets the mood for the entire album. The song shifts styles abruptly just like the album does from song to song. And of course the crowd noise and the entire "Sgt. Pepper" concept are introduced here.

02. "With a Little Help from my Friends" - The perfect song for Ringo Starr to sing. John Lennon & Paul McCartney wrote this song together specifically for Ringo to sing which I think makes the great lyrics all that much greater (think of them in that context.)

03. "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" - Now that the original mono version is available easily (with the release of The Beatles in Mono Box Set) it's great to be able to hear what this album sounds like in mono (how it was "meant to be heard" originally.) And the heavy vocal effects on this song is probably one of the more interesting things about the mono mixes for me.

04. "Getting Better" - The "it couldn't get much worse" lyric that Lennon added to this McCartney song is such a great example of the way that Lennon and McCartney made each others songs better even when they weren't righting them "eyeball to eyeball" like in the early days.

05. "Fixing a Hole" - Tracks 4 through 6 are a beautiful slice of McCartney magic and I think this is actually my favorite of that great trio of songs.

06. "She's Leaving Home" - Another great reason to get The Beatles in Mono Box Set. This song sounds faster and higher (by a semitone) in the mono version. It's a treat to hear!

07. "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite" - I think my favorite part of this song is the cut up tape section where it sounds like sort of insane random carnival music.

08. "Within You Without You" - I know a lot of people just can't get down with this kind of music but I certainly can. It's a really tripped out journey into the center of your own mind or is that your own heart? Or perhaps it's India!

09. "When I'm 64" - Check out this song sequencing. We went from a 1800s circus to India to do some meditating and now we're enjoying ourselves this very tongue in cheek music hall number. So many differnet styles of music are explored on this album, and they are all done brilliantly.

11. "Lovely Rita" - I have to admit that tracks #10 and #11 are probably my least favorites on the album. But considering I quite like both of those tracks, that says a lot about how much I love this album.

11. "Good Morning Good Morning" - My least favorite song on the album. Yet I still think it's pretty great at times and it has some very interesting elements. I think that says a lot about how much I love this album.

12. "Sgt. Pepper's (Reprise)" - This one is even better than the album opener. It rocks something fierce!

13. "A Day in the Life" - This is the best example of John & Paul combining their ideas to be something greater than they were on their own. This is also the best song ever recorded by anyone. It's just pure brilliance.

Light fixtures are things that not many of us think about very often. However, the way we light a room can cause us to feel a certain way or enhance the atmosphere we want to create in that room. There are many types of light fixtures, fittings, bulbs, shades and stands to suit all areas of the home. That means both indoors and even outdoors where you might want to emphasize some special landscaping design.

Are you planning to redo a room? In this case, I know it concerns a home movie theater room, because my friend, Owen Jones, asked me to give some advice. I definitely think that you should consider light fixtures as one element to change. For example, you could commence by altering the central, overhead incandescent bulb or tube light for sure.

My suggestion would be to install four or even six small wall-lights; these are not expensive and come in hundreds of colours and sizes to suit any pocket. The only drawback with wall lighting for your home theater, is that the wires would really have to be chased into the wall so as not to appear unsightly.

However, you could avoid this by using standard lamps. These are also available in a myriad of designs, but they come with two drawbacks: namely trailing wires and a higher cost. They are moveable though. Small, table lamps is a sub-class alternative, but you may need more electrical points.

Once you've decided what you want, make each lamp dimmable either in unison or separately - that's up to you. A good idea would be to keep one fairly powerful light at the DVD end of things in case the equipment needs adjusting, although it too could be on a dimmer.

The effect can be quite incredible. And all from just changing the pre-existing light fixtures and fittings. You could even increase the level of reality and have an exit sign over the door or a few romantic mood lamps higher up out of line of sight so that they are not distracting, say, a replica 1970s style lunar lamp and a fibre-optic lamp, for amusement or as a talking point while waiting for the film or snacks to be got ready.

So, whatever style home theater lighting you are thinking of, contemporary or old style traditional, you will find many options to pick from - from different colors to different sizes and styles, there are many.
