How To Take an Orlando Vacation on a Budget

By Bob Ranallo

DRG Property Services offers many housing options such as townhouses, condo's and regular homes at rates that are affordable for many families. You can save money too by going on vacation during the "off season" such as after Labor Day. The kids are back in school and the traditional vacation season dies down dramatically and you can take advantage of the great weather well into the fall season.

Renting a home with a kitchen and bringing or buying your own food can help save money on food and feeding your family. Most of DRG's properties have kitchens and doing this will dramatically cut down on your food bill. Depending on the size of your family, eating out can be quite expensive.

If you are renting a car in Orlando, set up your rental on line to save even more. Rent an economy car, then when you pick up the car, ask for an upgrade and try to get a mid-size. Many times the rent-a-car places run out of economy vehicles and will give you the upgrade for free. Always remember to ask, the worst they can say is no.

If you are flying into Orlando, book your reservations on-line at least 2 weeks in advance. Check around and see who is offering the best rates and always check for any restrictions. Travel agents may also be a helpful resource to use at this time.

To avoid any cleaning fees from the property owner(s), always remember to clean up after yourselves on the final day. Make sure the furniture is the way it was, the kitchen is clean and all the trash is emptied. Rental companies do charge a fee for any excessive cleaning that needs to be done. Also report to the property manager anything that needs repair or their urgent attention.
